This test method covers a procedure for rapid, inexpensive determination of the film hardness of an organic coating on a substrate in terms of drawing leads or pencil leads of known hardness.

ASTM D6279

Standard Test Method for Rub Abrasion Mar Resistance of High Gloss Coatings

This test method covers procedures for evaluating the relative mar resistance of a series of high gloss coatings applied to a flat, rigid surface. Wet rub and dry rub abrasion tests are described. To fully characterize a coating’s mar resistance, both tests should be run.

EN 1096-2

Glass in building. Coated glass. Requirements and test methods for class A, B and S coatings

This European Standard specifies requirements and test methods related to artificial weathering and abrasion of coatings on glass for use in buildings. These tests are aimed at evaluating the resistance of the coating to attack by simulated natural weathering conditions as well as to abrasion. This attack can be considered as representative of that which could be found on the external and/or internal face of the glazing.

EN 13523-11

Coil coated metals - Part 11: Resistance to solvents (rubbing test)

This part of EN 13523 specifies the procedure for evaluating the degree of curing by determining the resistance of an organic coating on a metallic substrate to solvents.

EN 15186 (Method A)

Furniture - Assessment of the surface resistance to scratching

This European Standard specifies a method for the assessment of the surface resistance to penetrating scratches. It relates to the rigid surfaces of all finished products, regardless of their material. It does not apply to finishes on leather and fabrics. Method A is suitable for all types of surface coatings and coverings except for melamine faced boards (according to EN 14322) and HPL (according to EN 438-1). It simulates measurable penetrating and/or deforming scratches.

EN 16268

Perfomance of reflecting surfaces for luminaires

Pertains to the optical performance of untreated or coated materials supplied in plane sheet or strip form for use as a plane or formed reflector as well as preformed reflectors both as originally produced and after prescribed tests to determine probable maintained performance in service.

General Motors GMW3026

Carpet Materials for Floors

This specification describes carpet materials that are suitable for floor applications and floor mats.

General Motors GME8797

Stability of Textile Decoration Materials Against Mechanical Load

The object of this test method is to determine the wear resistance and usability of textile decoration materials. For this purpose, the surface of the test pieces are submitted to a controlled scraping effect with friction media defined.

General Motos GMW14125

Linear Abrasion Testing

The purpose of this test method is to determine the wear resistance by linear abrasion testing. For this,  the surface of the specimen is submitted to a controlled scraping effect with friction media to be defined.

General Motors GMW14327

Abrasion Protection Textile Sleeves

This specification covers material and performance requirements for expandable braided monofilament flexible sleeving, heat shrinkable woven sleeving and self-closing sleeving for abrasion resistant and anti-rattle applications. Typical applications include; wiring bundling in passenger compartment and underhood applications, protection of hoses, insulated wires, rods and tubing. {Table 3 only}

General Motors GMW14573

Performance Requirements for Labels
Test number: 2a

This standard defines the requirements and strategy for labels on GM vehicles sold worldwide. Labels required in this standard are intended to convey information as well as to comply with legal requirements, product liability requirements, or information necessary for the handling of the vehicle throughout the entire vehicle lifecycle.

IEC 60794-1-2

Optical Fibre Cables

This part of International Standard IEC 60794 applies to optical fibre cables for use with telecommunication equipment and devices employing similar techniques, and to cables having a combination of both optical fibres and electrical conductors. The object of this standard is to define test procedures to be used in establishing uniform requirements for the geometrical, transmission, material, mechanical, ageing (environmental exposure) and climatic properties of optical fibre cables, and electrical requirements where appropriate.

ISO 105-x12

Textiles tests for colour Fastness - Part x12 colour fastness to rubbing

Specifies a method for determining the resistance of the colour of textiles of all kinds, including textile floor coverings and other pile fabrics, to rubbing off and staining other materials. The method is applicable to textiles made from all kinds of fibres in the form of yarn or fabric, including textile floor coverings, whether dyed or printed. Two tests may be made, one with a dry rubbing cloth and one with a wet rubbing cloth.

ISO 9211-4

Optical coatings

This part of ISO 9211 describes specific test procedures for coating environmental durability tests that are identified in ISO 9211-3 but not described in other normative references. They are typically performed in sequence with other environmental durability tests, as shown in ISO 9211-3, Annex A.

ISO/IEC 10373-2

Identification cards-Test Methods-Part:2 Cards with magnetic stripes

The purpose of this test is to determine the signal amplitude of the magnetic stripe of a card test sample after controlled abrasion (see ISO/IEC 7811 and ISO/IEC 7811-6).
